Challenge #94

Funny, the title is Challenge.... and this week finds me challenged, in many ways..
This week finds me at the end of my finances, and facing the month without insurance, unless I go with Cobra. I have stepped up my job applying, with some urgency, yet with some trepidation. I don't want to just have a job, and being in my field (nursing, computers, etc) I do kind of have a choice, yet in the job market, I don't want to be too picky.

I have interviewed for a position I would like, but it will be a very long drawn out process to interview in stages, each stage with a different set of people. I've done this process before, so I'm not scared of it, I just know that it is a long process. It's something I would like to do, and would really like to hold out for it....which in a way, I have. But I haven't heard anything and I'm kind of at the end of my rope now. So I've applied for a few other ones closer to home that I think are interesting enough, one of which I have an interview for tomorrow morning. I don't particularly have experience in this type of nursing, but I have proven in the past I can learn anything.

I've noticed having some difficulty journaling and drawing since I've been off. I have to say though, I've committed myself to doing the weekly challenges. That has made me get up and get moving and get inspired. So, today I got up and voted, and started cleaning the house, and got my head on a little straighter. This, funny enough, helped me draw tonight.

So, I'm putting up my drawing. When I was doing it I was thinking of my daughter, growing up, and braiding her hair. When she looked at it she said it looked like wheat. Funny enough, I am allergic to wheat, but it is pretty to look at ! Ha!! I was going to continue my drawing but she told me to stop, it was enough. I tend to overdo, over think, over talk, etc. so this time I stopped. (It still looks empty to me, but then again, I don't draw in the lines, so for me it is!)I hope you like it!

Weekly Challenge #94: "UMT v. X: Socc"

The Socc that I did, looks like the "dirt" growing the "feathers" above, while in this braid of a vase. That's my interpretation anyway! I'm glad I did stop drawing. I think the simplicity of it, separated by colors, would've gotten lost.
Have a great week!

Weekly Challenge #93: New Official Tangle "Bunzo"

I am sitting here in my house riding out Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy. I have friends here with me, one who has to be in the city tomorrow so she came here to stay (from rural WV) overnight.  There are 2 others that live with me to share rent, utilities etc. We all get along great, kind of stick to ourselves and come together to do stuff occasionally. It's fun. It works.
I've had others live with me and it was difficult.  This is probably the best arrangement I've ever had, I really enjoy the couple here. So I have to eat Gluten free, and they love to cook. (And might I say she is  a FANTASTIC cook!!) and they accommodate me as much as possible. It's really fantastic because when I have to convert recipes I have more difficulty getting textures. Of course now that there are SO MANY MORE choices to assist in cooking from scratch, it makes it much easier. But of course, Emily is a good cook so she seems to be doing all the work. And so, to make a long story short, she fixed gluten free chicken and dumplings tonight. PERFECT for a stormy cold night....and it was DELICIOUS!
So, here in Winchester, VA, we're doing ok. it's cold, rainy and the wind is blowing hard but we're cozy and warm watching movies. I love to draw when I'm sitting watching tv, it seems to be my best time to zone out. So this week's challenge is BUNZO.  It took me approximately 3 - 4 hours to do it. I have trouble when I draw for long periods that I have to stop and rest because my hand gets cramped. my right hand is my weaker one, so it takes me more time. I added, I think, SEZ pattern in here too.
So, here's my challenge for this week. I'm going to try to keep posting them each week. I tend to forget and get sidetracked. So, hopefully I can remember.
If you're reading this and you're in the storm too, please be careful, stay safe and warm. Blessings!

Weekly challenge #92

Ok, so I decided to PUBLISH one of my weekly challenges. I have done them off and on, but this time I have decided to publish and like it. So here it goes!

Weekly Challenge #92: String Theory v.XIV "Stripes 2.0"

As you can see, I have an issue staying inside the lines :-)
Hope you like it!

Zentangle

I've been working on many different zentangles, although I have to say I haven't posted many of them. Some are duplicates of others, because it's how I learn - by imitation. So if this is your pattern and I've copied, please let me know and I will give credit where credit is due. I deconstruct things and then try putting it back together in order to figure out how to do it.

I have been unemployed for about a month now. It was a difficult decision to make and now that my money is running short, I'm hoping I don't regret giving up the drama for peace of mind....as my wallet sputters moths....!

I have to say at first I was totally blocked and couldn't get any art to come out of my head. It was like an artists block. However, it seems I've overcome it and am drawing all the time now.!

I'm uploading my various tangles. I hope you like them! This first one I criss-crossed strings all over the place to challenge myself.

This one, my daughter closed her eyes and scribbled all over and said "there, try that one!"
Well, it is is....I did it in a purple ink since she loves the color purple. (Did I mention she is 20?) This one is my latest...

new art

I have always had art in me - I've loved all types of art ever since I was little. So, lately, I have gotten back into one of my favorite types - pen and ink. I love all types, my moods I think dictate what type I end up doing. So I have been going crazy with all different types of drawings. Many are Zentangle, which in SO MANY WAYS, is a jumping off point for me. I start with it and go, or start with something and end up back at doing zentangle
Here are ome of my favorite things - drawings, photos, quilts...my works of art with a splash of a few of my daughter's stuff in there too....

My flicker Stuff

This site - I Am The Diva  - she has weekly zentangle challenges and it's a lot of fun. I do them aside from my other drawings, and although I'm busy with work, I really try to keep up with them.
I'm starting my flicker account and uploading my drawings, so, in case you wonder, you can see my art too.
Busy week coming up - 54 hours of work. Today (Tuesday) was my only day off and I totally enjoyed it having wine and pizza with a friend, and sitting in the hot tub watching shooting stars tonight. I am a home-body and love to be at home. It takes me having to almost force myself to get out when I'm not having to go to work. BUT I made myself go and I am SO GLAD!

Another idea is one I use also to help me spark and idea of what to draw, however I find it gives me ideas but i have yet to actually do one of her challenges. I love her stuff though... Check it out... daisy yellow Daily Paper Prompts

new blogger

Well, this is a first for me - I've decided to blog. So bear with me while I try to muddle my way through. To tell you more about me is a longer story than most people want to sit through. To summarize, I'm a cancer survivor, a 2 time divorcee, have a grown up beautiful intelligent daughter who has become my best friend. I love nature, photographing it even more. Sewing(quilting) is my true love, an enjoy just about any kind of arts; I can do just about anything Martha (stewart) can do if I have the time.
I am a full time RN in an oncology unit - I have great co-workers and some are my friends. I've lost both my parents now, have a brother whom I occasionally talk with, to catch up, an even greater sister-in-law because she's tolerated him and kept him in line which is a feat in itself.
I have chemo brain - even after 11 years -- LOL don't ever let anyone tell you its not true, because it is. And as I age, I realize that the age related memory issue is just about as bad as the chemo brain. Compound them together with stress, fatigue of being overworked and you get me - a babbling idiot. Sometimes its frustrating to not be able to name objects as simple as a teapot, other times you have to laugh at me (and myself) at telling my daughter to either "mow the carpet" or "take out the garage"... gotta love it. After all, if you can't laugh at yourself, what's left?
So here I go.. I'll share with you my art - photography, papers, fabrics, and whatever else comes along the way.  So, hold on, you're in for a bumpy ride!
